Bukayo Saka's getting married! Arsenal star goes 'all out' with proposal to girlfriend Tolami Benson and buys 'absolutely enormous' engagement ring

Bukayo Saka is officially engaged, with the Arsenal and England star going “all out” on a romantic proposal to longtime girlfriend Tolami Benson at a top London hotel. After five years together, the 24-year-old surprised her with what insiders describe as an “absolutely enormous” ring, marking a huge personal milestone for the Gunners’ talisman as he continues to shine on the pitch.

  • Saka proposes to long-term girlfriend Tolami Benson

Saka has taken a major step in his personal life after proposing to his girlfriend of five years, Tolami, during a carefully planned evening at a luxury hotel in London. The Arsenal forward arranged the romantic setup privately, surprising Tolami with a proposal that insiders described to The Sun as stunning in both scale and sentiment. Saka presented her with what was called an “absolutely enormous” engagement ring, leaving her “totally blown away” by the gesture.

The couple, both 24, have been together since 2020 but have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye, choosing to avoid spotlight attention during Saka’s rise to global stardom. They first confirmed their relationship publicly when Tolami was seen supporting him at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and she has since become a regular presence at major England fixtures. From cheering him on at Euro 2024 to wearing a jacket featuring his first Arsenal squad number, 87, Tolami has been a consistent figure behind the scenes during key moments in Saka’s career.

Before the engagement, the pair had recently been photographed sharing a pitch-side kiss after England’s draw with Slovenia, signalling the strength of their long-term relationship. Tolami, originally from Hatfield and now a senior planning executive in London, has often attended Saka’s matches while balancing her own career in media and public relations.

Saka continues to shine under Arteta at Arsenal

Saka’s engagement arrives during another hugely influential season for the winger, who continues to serve as Arsenal’s most important attacking outlet under Mikel Arteta. Despite dealing with a recurring hamstring issue that caused him to miss three early-season games, he has maintained elite output across domestic and European competitions. His goals, assists and overall attacking leadership have been central to Arsenal’s continued push on multiple fronts, including a standout Champions League campaign.

Balancing personal and professional milestones has not affected his form, as he enters late November with six goals and one assist across 16 appearances in all competitions. His Premier League productivity remains high despite constant double-marking, while his Champions League contributions have been pivotal in Arsenal’s dominant run. Even with managed minutes, he continues to deliver match-defining moments, such as his role in the recent 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich.

Beyond his statistics, Saka’s position within the squad has evolved further, representing the composure and maturity expected of a senior figure despite his young age.

  • Saka continues to play major part in England's plans as well

Behind the scenes, Saka and Tolami’s relationship has grown in tandem with his rise from Hale End graduate to one of the world’s leading wingers. Their decision to keep their romance private for years reflects an emphasis on stability amid the increasingly hectic demands of elite football. It wasn’t until Tolami appeared at the 2022 World Cup that their relationship entered the public eye, reinforcing how carefully they have navigated personal exposure.

Saka and Tolami's engagement now marks a new stage in their partnership. The timing of the engagement aligns with a period of personal and professional stability for Saka, who has also become an increasingly central figure for England. He recently scored in World Cup qualifiers and continues to be a decisive figure in Thomas Tuchel's plans.

Saka will quickly shift focus back to the pitch as Arsenal prepare to face Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a key Premier League encounter. With the Gunners competing strongly on multiple fronts, his fitness management and attacking influence will remain crucial throughout the busy winter period. Martin Odegaard in line for 'superhero' comeback in north London derby after Arsenal captain makes 'miraculous recovery' from injury

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is reportedly in line to make a "superhero" return to action in the north London derby. The Norwegian midfielder has sat out the Gunners' last seven games through injury, having endured a disrupted start to the 2025-26 campaign. He is, however, poised to hand manager Mikel Arteta a timely boost ahead of a home date with Tottenham.

  • Odegaard update: Gunners captain missed seven games

Arsenal are preparing to welcome Spurs to Emirates Stadium on Sunday. It was feared that Odegaard would be forced to sit out that contest with a knee problem, having struggled to find peak form and fitness this season.

According to , the 26-year-old is now in line to complete a "miraculous recovery" in time to feature against the Gunners’ fiercest rivals. He could make just his eighth appearance of the campaign in that fixture – and his seventh in the Premier League.

Arsenal injury news: Who else is missing for the Gunners?

Arteta will be hoping that is the case as Arsenal are not expected to have star striker Viktor Gyokeres back in contention, with the Sweden international picking up a hamstring complaint against Burnley on November 1 that has kept him out of action for club and country.

Arsenal are also without Noni Madueke and Kai Havertz at present, while Gabriel Jesus is training again as his recovery from knee ligament damage is stepped up. Commanding centre-half Gabriel Magalhaes is expected to be out for at least a month after suffering a knock while turning out for Brazil.

  • Odegaard celebrated Norway reaching 2026 World Cup

While Odegaard has been restricted to a watching brief of late, he did travel to Oslo during the latest break in domestic duties to watch Norway secure qualification for their first World Cup since 1998 – with Erling Haaland taking his tally of goals in that campaign to 16.

Odegaard was on the pitch following a 4-1 victory over Estonia to join in with wild celebrations. He posted on social media afterwards: "We’ve been dreaming of moments like this since we were little kids. We have been working so hard. We have failed and failed… But we never gave up. Never lose faith, hope or unity.

"This group has stood together through the toughest days and moments, and therefore it feels even better to be where we are today. Proud to be a part of this crew. Proud to play for Norway. Proud to be Norwegian. Proud to represent Norway in the World Cup!! Dreams can really come true if you work hard and believe enough.

"To all the children and young adults out there: We were all once like you.

"So dream big and work hard, and everything is possible! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us yesterday and thank you for all the love we have received the past few days! It means more than you know. Let’s enjoy the moment, but we won’t stop here…"

Tottenham injury news: Kolo Muani to play in a mask

On the other side of the north London derby divide, Tottenham are hoping that Randal Kolo Muani will be cleared to play. The French forward has been training while donning a protective mask.

He damaged his jaw during Spurs’ dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester United, with it initially suggested that he could be sidelined for up to two months. He did not, however, require surgery and is ready if needed.

Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer Harry Kane famously wore a mask against Arsenal in 2016 – after breaking his nose – and ripped that off when celebrating a stunning goal at White Hart Lane.

Thomas Frank will be without long-term absentee James Maddison, along with Swedish playmaker Dejan Kulusevski and England international striker Dominic Solanke. Mohammed Kudus did not feature for Ghana during the November break and remains a doubt. Pape Matar Sarr picked up a knock during Senegal’s friendly with Brazil and may be forced to sit out a crunch clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal – who hold a four-point lead at the top of the table through 11 games this season.

Man Utd already preparing internal Fernandes replacement amid exit fears – insider

As fears begin to re-emerge that Bruno Fernandes could leave the club, one Manchester United insider has claimed that the Red Devils are already preparing an internal replacement.

Update on Fernandes' Man Utd future

Whilst Saudi Arabia did come calling and there was a brief moment that some believed Fernandes could be on his way out of Old Trafford, his heart ultimately lied at Man United. Their star man stayed put instead of sealing a transfer that could have been worth as much as £100m, but the saga may not be done there.

Fernandes’ reward for staying put has been a new role in Ruben Amorim’s side. Instead of playing in one of the two advanced roles as arguably one of the Premier League’s best creators, the United captain is being asked to play in a deeper role alongside either Manuel Ugarte or Casemiro and his output has taken a major hit as a result.

It seems unlikely that Fernandes will repeat last season’s 18 goal involvements without having a direct influence inside the area and if United aren’t getting the best out of their star man, questions will arrive about his future.

According to Football Insider, the Portugal international could be tempted to leave Old Trafford with clubs in the Saudi Pro League once again interested in a £100m deal.

The Old Trafford legend has had his say.

ByTom Cunningham Oct 10, 2025

It was difficult to see how the Red Devils would cope without Fernandes last season. Everything positive went through him. Now that he’s in a deeper role, however, INEOS may believe that it’s worth cashing in on the 31-year-old whilst they still can.

If that does prove to be the case, then one Man United insider believes that Amorim will turn towards an internal replacement.

Insider believes Mainoo could replace Fernandes

According to former Old Trafford scout Mick Brown, Man United are already preparing Kobbie Mainoo to replace Fernandes despite concerns that he could also leave the club amid a lack of game time.

It would certainly make sense. Mainoo is a talented player who should be part of Ruben Amorim’s plans this season and Fernandes’ deeper role may have opened the door for the Carrington graduate.

If the United captain departs, then Mainoo represents the perfect player to step into that new role as the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo carry the creative mantle left behind.

Dilip Doshi, former India left-arm spinner, dies aged 77

He represented India in 33 Tests and 15 ODIs between 1979 and 1983

Dilip Doshi, the former India left-arm spinner, has died on Monday aged 77. ESPNcricinfo understands he died due to heart issues in London, where he was living for several decades.Doshi, who bowled with a classical left-armer’s action, took 114 Test wickets in 33 appearances, including six five-wicket hauls. He also picked up 22 wickets in 15 ODIs at an economy rate of 3.96. Doshi also played first-class cricket for Saurashtra, Bengal, Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.

Doshi followed in the footsteps of the famous spin quartet the 1970s, and made his Test debut at the age of 32. He was also heavily influenced by West Indies legend Garfield Sobers at Nottinghamshire. Doshi made a quick and silent exit from international cricket in the 1980s as he did not agree with the way Indian cricket was being run at the time. Doshi also wrote a honest and compelling account of his cricketing days in a revealing autobiography Spin Punch.“It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of Dilip Doshi,” BCCI president Roger Binny said in a board statement issued on Tuesday. “He was a true artist of spin bowling, a gentleman both on and off the field, and a dedicated servant of Indian cricket. His impact on the game was immense, and he inspired a generation of cricketers with his skill and dedication. His contribution to Indian cricket will always be remembered. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and the entire cricketing fraternity during this difficult time.”In an conversation with ESPNcricinfo in 2008, Doshi said “spin bowling is a battle of wits.” Doshi was known as a thinking cricketer and brought those characteristics to the fore in the Melbourne Test of 1981 – which India won – in which he played one of the leading roles with a five-wicket haul. Doshi, who used to bowl sporting spectacles, played the famous Test with a broken toe. As treatment, at the end of the day, he would apply electrode every evening to keep the swelling down.Over the years, Doshi was a regular at cricket games, often spotted with Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger, who became a good friend from 1976. Doshi is survived by his wife Kalindi, son Nayan, who played for Surrey and Saurashtra, and daughter Vishakha.

MI sign Bairstow, Gleeson and Asalanka as temporary replacements

Mumbai Indians (MI) have added the England duo of Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson and Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka as temporary replacements for Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch. An IPL statement said that Bairstow will join at a price of INR 5.25 crore, while fast bowler Gleeson was picked at a reserve price of INR 1 crore and Asalanka for INR 75 lakhs. The replacement players will be available from the playoffs onwards, should MI qualify. Currently, MI and Delhi Capitals (DC) are fighting for the last remaining slot in the top four and they play each other in a crucial game on Wednesday. This will also be MI’s first match since the IPL resumed on May 17 after it was interrupted due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. If Mumbai Indians make the playoffs, these will be their temporary replacements•ESPNcricinfo Ltd

Jacks will not be available after MI’s last league game on May 26 owing to his commitment with the national team for ODIs against West Indies, while Rickelton and Bosch will join South Africa for their preparations ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final. They will all leave after their final league game against Punjab Kings on May 26.Bairstow went unsold at November’s mega auction and has not played for England in any format since June 2024. He has captained Yorkshire in the County Championship this season but will miss Friday’s fixture against Nottinghamshire and their first two T20 Blast fixtures.”These decisions are never straightforward – especially given how much I’ve enjoyed leading Yorkshire this year,” Bairstow said on his Instagram account. “I’m incredibly grateful to the club for understanding, continued support and look forward to getting stuck back in on my return. This is a fantastic opportunity, and I’m excited to contribute to MI’s campaign. Can’t wait to get started and experience the energy of Mumbai.”Gavin Hamilton, Yorkshire’s general manager, said: “Whilst it is naturally disappointing to lose Jonny for the next few weeks, the opportunity for him to play in the final stages of the IPL at this stage in his career is huge. Jonny has been open with us around his desire to play in the IPL from our very first conversation with him, and we’d like to wish him the best of luck in the coming weeks.”Bairstow has made 50 IPL appearances across five seasons, having represented Sunrisers Hyderabad (2019-21) and Punjab Kings (2022 and 2024). He has an impressive record in the league, averaging 34.54 and striking at 144.45, and has scored two IPL hundreds – one of them in a record-breaking run chase at Eden Gardens last year.Related

Big picture: Two teams with contrasting runsRajasthan Royals need only look as far back as 2024 – the example of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, specifically, for inspiration. They made a stirring run to the playoffs at the back end, surging to six straight wins and qualifying with 14 points. RR need five on the bounce to get to the same points, but do they have the belief, especially after failing to close out three regulation chases?Their climb up the points table will hard, not least because they now face Gujarat Titans, who have quietly built one of the most complete bowling units of IPL 2025, even as Rashid Khan has only shown flashes of his best.Prasidh Krishna, back in the IPL after a long injury layoff, is in the form of his life: 16 wickets at 14.12 and economy rate of 7.29. Left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore isn’t far behind, with 12 wickets at 16.33 and an economy of 8.22. Then there’s Mohammed Siraj, bringing the heat, especially in the powerplay, with his zip and late swing.Their batting is equally settled. Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan may not go wham-bam from the start, but they’ve mastered the art of building an innings. Their 448 partnership runs are the highest by any pair this season. RR, by contrast, are a team in search of the right combinations, despite being the fastest scoring team in the powerplay (10.38) along with Punjab Kings (10.37). Coach Rahul Dravid isn’t sure of a recovery time frame yet. Tottenham hold talks over bid for £192k-a-week playmaker likened to Maddison

Tottenham Hotspur are running out of time to bring a new playmaker to N17, with the transfer cut off fast approaching in just four days’ time.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank, at one stage, appeared set to head into 2025/2026 boasting both James Maddison and Morgan Gibbs-White as his number 10 options.

However, a disastrous chain of events, including an ACL rupture for Maddison, resulted in the Dane having neither England international to choose from.

Gibbs-White’s blocked move to north London, with the 25-year-old eventually signing a new deal instead, was made all the more embarrassing for Daniel Levy when Arsenal hijacked their once very advanced deal for alternative Eberechi Eze.

Following two public transfer humiliations, Levy and Frank are back to the drawing board, searching for another ideal signing to bolster that area of the squad.

A lot of noise in the last 48 hours has surrounded a potential swoop for West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta as one intriguing option, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that contact has been made.

Another name gaining traction is that of RB Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons, who was thought to be on the verge of joining Chelsea.

The Dutchman has already agreed terms over a move to Stamford Bridge, according to reliable media sources, but both Leipzig and Chelsea are still yet to reach a full agreement.

The west Londoners are also looking to offload both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku first, due to a complex settlement with UEFA that demands they sell certain players to balance out the squad.

Tottenham hold talks over bid for Xavi Simons

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are holding talks over a bid for Simons as they look to potentially hijack Chelsea’s deal for the 22-year-old.

Valued at around £60 million – a similar fee to what Spurs were prepared to pay for both Gibbs-White and Eze – this deal appears like a feasible one to do. Leipzig have also confirmed to German news outlet BILD that Simons has been allowed to discuss a transfer away, opening the door for Frank’s side to rival Chelsea.

Matt Law of The Telegraph also reports that, despite the attacker’s fondness for Chelsea, there is optimism that he’d be open to joining Tottenham as well.

Leipzig made Simons their highest-ever paid player on a contract worth £192,000-per-week earlier this year, showing just how highly-rated he is, with Football Transfers also calling him a ‘similar’ player to Maddison.

Last season, the former PSG sensation bagged 11 goals and eight assists over 33 appearances in all competitons, and the Netherlands international is only likely to get even better as he matures.

Jack Grealish told Pep Guardiola isn't to blame for Man City decline amid Everton loanee's fantastic start to new season

Jack Grealish has been told that Pep Guardiola isn't to blame for the winger's struggles at Manchester City. Many believe that the attacking talents and flair that Grealish possessed before his move from Aston Villa has been beaten out of him at the Etihad. But former Chelsea man Pat Nevin thinks something else is at play amid the winger's superb start on loan at Everton.

Grealish fell out of favour at Man City

Following his loan switch from City to Everton, Grealish has excelled under David Moyes, bagging four assists in six games. The 30-year-old is taking on and beating defenders with apparent ease, something that became a distant memory at City. But Nevin feels that manager Guardiola should not be raked over the coals for how he used the winger at City.

AdvertisementGettyEverton setup helping Grealish

He told BetIdeas.com: "It is frustrating but certain clubs and the way they play aren't suited to certain players. Everyone seems to think it's just Pep didn't let him drive past players – no. Doku was allowed to drive past players. He wasn't saying ‘Jack you can't and Doku you can’. So there's something else going on there and one of the things that's going on is space behind. If you play for Manchester City you come up against these massive blocks of players all the time. In the last third you may get a lot of the ball but you're just a blocker then, two or three in front of you and if you lose the ball they don't like that. If you're playing at Everton, home or away, you're not kind of coming across that all the time. You find yourself quite often one on one with a defender. That almost never happened to Jack when he was at Man City. So he's given the freedom of space. It was up to him to see if he could react to it. And he's reacted to it brilliantly. Absolutely fantastically. It's the simplest thing of, ‘Get the ball in the last third, go and beat somebody, and if you don't, we don't mind’. The fans will accept that. Now that the manager accepts that, then this is all good for Jack. And you see in his face, he's beaming. He's smiled more in the last month than I've seen in the last year. That tells you a story."

England recall incoming for winger?

Grealish himself admitted he "didn't enjoy football as much" towards the tail end of his time at City, but is loving life with Everton right now. The England international struggled for game time and became less and less effective at the Premier League outfit. But at this rate, he could be in with a shot of getting an England recall for the 2026 World Cup.
