Jofra Archer briefly left India earlier this month to visit an elbow specialist in Belgium, where he reportedly underwent a minor surgical procedure.The Telegraph reported on Tuesday night that Archer had a “minor procedure” in his right elbow during his brief recent lay-off during the IPL. The same elbow has caused him several issues over the last two years, with an initial stress fracture in 2021 ruling him out of that year’s English summer, T20 World Cup and Ashes.The ECB confirmed to ESPNcricinfo on Wednesday morning that Archer had been to see his specialist in Belgium “a few weeks ago”. Archer returned to international cricket earlier this year after an absence of nearly two years, owing to elbow and back injuries which both put his career in jeopardy. He played Mumbai’s first game of IPL 2023, but missed their next four matches due to what his head coach Mark Boucher described as “a little niggle”.He came back into the side for their defeat to Kings on Saturday night, then missed their away fixture against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday. Rohit Sharma, Mumbai’s captain, said at the toss that Archer was “not well” but he is expected to return against Royals on Sunday night.Speaking to ESPNcricinfo last week, Archer said that his minor setback was “what you expect when you’ve been off for a long time: the body’s not going to be 100 percent straight away.”He added: “There are going to be moments where it feels a lot more serious than it actually is… I just want to focus on feeling good at the minute.”The ECB remains hopeful that Archer will be able to play some part in this summer’s Ashes series, which starts on June 16 at Edgbaston. He has not played a first-class match in nearly two years, and is therefore unlikely to be match-fit for the first Test, but could come into contention later in the series.

Alexander Isak released a bombshell statement taking an aim at Newcastle United after missing PFA awards night. Isak was named in the PFA's Premier League Team of the Season for 2024-25, however, he was not present in person in Manchester. Isak is determined to leave St. James' Park this summer to join Premier League champions Liverpool.

Isak has been linked with a move away from Newcastle all through the summer and the striker is currently in a stand-off with the Magpies over a transfer to Liverpool, as the club are yet to sanction his sale, although the Swedish forward is determined to move to Anfield this summer. The 25-year-old has been banished from the first team and is training alone, and was also excluded from Eddie Howe's matchday squad in their season opener against Aston Villa last weekend.

Rayudu is set to become the second Indian after Pravin Tambe to play in the men’s CPL

If Rayudu is cleared, he will add to the Indian presence in the men’s league. Legspinner Pravin Tambe was the first Indian to play in the men’s CPL when he was with Trinbago Knight Riders in 2020. There have been two other Indian cricketers – Sunny Sohal and Smit Patel – who have played in the men’s CPL, but they qualified as USA players. This season will also see Shreyanka Patil become the first Indian to take part in the Women’s CPL, having been signed up by Guyana Amazon Warriors.Rayudu will replace South Africa allrounder Tristan Stubbs, who is no longer available for CPL 2023, at Patriots. He link up with former Tamil Nadu allrounder Malolan Rangarajan, who has replaced Simon Helmot as Patriots’ head coach. Malolan has also been part of Royal Challengers Bangalore men and women’s support staff in the IPL and WPL. In the past, Robin Singh and Abhishek Nayar had coached CPL franchises.”I’m really excited to be joining the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. I look forward to having a positive contribution for the team in the upcoming CPL 2023,” Rayudu said.Rayudu’s presence could potentially help Patriots fill the void created by Dwayne Bravo’s return to his home franchise TKR. Ashes series remain over five matches while the Border-Gavaskar contest will expand to that number when India tour Australia in 2024-25, and McDonald would like to see an additional game added to other series too.”I’d encourage that the minimum number of Tests against a nation should be three,” he said. “I think two-Test-match series should be put on the back burner and that would show the importance of Test cricket to every nation if it was a minimum of three Test matches.”Australia’s next home season will feature a three-match series against Pakistan and two matches against West Indies before a tour of New Zealand that also features two Tests.McDonald was also asked about the potential for Ashes series to be played over six Tests, as they have been at previous times in history, given that Australia and England had both played that number of games over the last two months, with respective matches against India and Ireland.He quipped at whether England had been asked their views, referencing their stances on various issues about how the game might be played, but acknowledged scheduling would be a challenge.”Did you ask that question to England, because they’re usually the ones that are I suppose forecasting what the rules should be going forward in the laws of the game,” he said. “I think a six-Test-match series, now that we’ve had a drawn series, it’s like the two-Test series against certain nations when it ends up one-all you walk away from that thinking ‘geez, what about another one’.”I don’t know where it fits, though. When pushed to reflect on the drawn Ashes and the gripping nature of the series, McDonald acknowledged it had been fantastic viewing even though Australia had been unable to turn their 2-0 lead into a first series win in England since 2001.”There was two contrasting styles coming in and it just shows you that you don’t have to play one way in Test-match cricket. And I think that was captivating for most people on the outside,” he said. “Even if it was 3-1 and we’d won that, or it was 3-1 to England, the whole way that both teams went about it – Pat [Cummins] leading our side, Ben [Stokes] leading England, the way the teams prepared and went about their work – [they] had some key decision to make in selection, it all meshed into this weird and wonderful series. It was fascinating.”The series was played to full houses throughout and though those crowds were, as would be expected, massively in favour of England, McDonald understood that the support for Test cricket could only be a good thing.”You love seeing people line up the gates, and you get to the ground in the morning and there’s just a murmur, there’s a buzz,” he said. “And they’re keen to go and watch a Test match. To me, that’s really important for the landscape of Test-match cricket.”It was exciting, and there were a lot of English supporters who said well done and congratulations, so I think it captivated a nation. لكن الأهلي أرسل خطابًا رسميًا إلى نادي العبور، نفى فيه طلب الحصول على حق انتفاع لنادي العبور لمدة 50 سنة، بعدما خاطب نادي العبور نظيره الأهلي للتأكد من صحة الأخبار المتداولة.

وجاء في خطاب الأهلي: “لا صحة لما تم تداوله، إذ أنه لم يصدر عن مجلس إدارة الأهلي أو مجلس إدارة  شركة الأهلي للمنشآت الرياضية أي قرارات تتعلق بطلبات لجهاز تنمية مدينة العبور بالحصول على حق انتفاع لنادي العبور”.

وأشار الأهلي إلى أن الأوراق المنشورة على مواقع التواصل منسوبة زورًا لشركة الأهلي للمنشآت الرياضية، وليس عليها أي توقيع أو ختم للنادي، مضيفًا: “كما نود بالإحاطة بأن الأهلي وشركة الأهلي للمنشآت الرياضية سوف يتخذا الإجراءات القانونية ضد الأوراق المنسوبه زورًا له”.

وقدم نادي العبور الشكر للأهلي ومحمود الخطيب على الرد السريع والقاطع للكف عن تلك الأخبار، مؤكدًا أن مجلس الإدارة برئاسة طارق ربيع، لن يتهاون في الحفاظ على حقوق وأرض النادي وسيتخذ كافة الإجراءات القانونية ضد مروجي ومرسل هذا الخطاب لجهاز المدينة.
