Pundit claims Rose would be fantastic for Leeds - Exclusive

Danny Rose is now a free agent after seeing out the last few years at Tottenham Hotspur not playing a single first-team game, but despite his lack of game time former Leeds United midfielder David Norris believes that he would be a great signing for his former club.

Rose left Leeds back in 2007 when he was a promising and exciting youngster and he eventually opened up about his exit after promises were not kept, with a move to Spurs proving to be the right decision as he established himself as one of the top full-backs in the country.

The 30-year-old has been backed to make a homecoming to Leeds by former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor who believes that it would be a good move for both club and player, and would potentially provide him with some much-needed first-team minutes.

It would be a sensational return for Rose, something many would not have expected to happen a few years ago, but Norris has backed his former club to sign the full-back as he spoke exclusively to Football FanCast:

“He wouldn’t be going to a small-time club from down the leagues, he’d be going back to Leeds when they are in the Premier League.

“So, it would be huge for him and it really could give him a new lease of life.”

It is quite obvious that Leeds are on the hunt for a new left-back this summer with Ezgjan Alioski set to leave the club unless a new deal could be sorted out but something that Rose would have to prove is that if he is a Marcelo Bielsa player and if he’s up to the physical demands.

The last first-team football that Rose played was for Newcastle United when he spent the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan with the Magpies but the club decided against making it a permanent move.

From Italy: Striker attracted to West Ham

As per Torino Granata, a possible boost for West Ham United has come to light amid their links to Torino striker and soon-to-be free agent Andrea Belotti.

The Lowdown: Pellegrini fails in 2019 bid…

Multiple reports from 2019 have backed that the Hammers and former boss Manuel Pellegrini lodged a bid to sign the Italy international, but to no avail.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-newest-updates/” title=”West Ham newest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Football Insider, Calciomercato and TUTTOmercatoWEB all claimed that West Ham made an offer for Belotti nearly three years ago with the striker coming as a name who will be familiar to supporters.

Out of contract this summer, it appears the 28-year-old will finally be on the way out of Turin and for free, gifting David Moyes and co a chance to solve their striker shortage with a long-term target.

The Latest: Belotti open to joining…

Torino Granata, sharing the latest on his future post-Torino, now claim that Belotti is open to joining West Ham this summer.

Indeed, according to their sources, a Premier League move for the forward cannot be ruled out.

It is believed that a move to the Irons or fellow interested side Newcastle ‘could be more attractive’ to Belotti.

The Verdict: Make the move…

An proven threat at both international and club level, bypassing Belotti’s estimated £25.2 million Transfermarkt valuation and snapping him up for nothing would be a very shrewd move.

Torino’s captain and figurehead is one of the Serie A big names set to make a headline-grabbing move this summer and we believe a transfer to West Ham may well be on the cards.

However, with Newcastle, Roma, Atalanta, Inter Milan and Toronto also on his trail, Moyes and co should waste no time making the striker an offer.

Celtic set to fetch Ryan Christie windfall

With a number of Celtic players linked with the exit door, this could be an almighty summer of change at Parkhead.

The Bhoys look set to receive bids from around Europe as the likes of Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer seemingly look for a way out of Paradise.

What’s the word?

Another player who could leave Celtic in a few months time is Ryan Christie.

The Scot was the subject of interest from Leeds United and Arsenal during the winter window but he ultimately ended up staying in Glasgow.

However, after a surprising revelation emerged that his contract, for some reason, expires in January 2022, he will be free to discuss terms with other teams during the summer.

Providing the latest on Christie’s future at Celtic, journalist John McGarry told the Celtic Huddle podcast the news that the player is looking very likely to be sold: “Christie has given no indication at all that he’s inclined to extend his stay. His contract unusually expires in January, not next summer.”

McGarry continued: “He will move on for a considerable fee, a seven-figure fee. There’s interest from overseas, Nice were interested last year. I think the player would probably like to move to England. It’s just a matter of formalising that move.”

Delight for McKay

It’s unsurprising that Christie will fetch a seven-figure purely because of the nature of his services to Celtic down the years.

On his day, he is a wonderful creative outlet who can also find the net on a regular basis. He scored 20 times last season while providing 16 assists in the process. For a player with those numbers, he naturally commands a moderate price.

That being said, with just six months left on his deal once the summer rolls around, it will delight Dominic McKay to know that he can still actually source some funds for the player.

In normal circumstances, a player could sign a pre-contract on a free transfer but such are Christie’s remarkable set of conditions that Celtic will still be able to slap a price tag on his shoulders.

This should come as a delight to everyone at Parkhead. That’s due to his wretched form during the 2020/21 campaign.

Christie has been a shadow of his former self this season, scoring just seven goals in 44 matches. He has only found the net once in his last 20 league outings, something that’s led to severe fan criticism.

His long-range shooting is also proving to be a particularly contentious point of debate. Before last weekend’s Old Firm derby, the Scotland international had only scored one effort from outside of the box in 51 attempts.

Instead of looking for a pass, he’s wasting the play and completely ruining well thought out attacks.

To lose him this summer, therefore, particularly for a seven-figure fee will be music to the ears of everyone associated with Celtic.

They will be keen to wave farewell as soon as possible and get that money in the bank, rather than allowing him to walk away in January.

AND in other news, Imagine him under Howe: Celtic must unleash 6 ft 3 brute who “competes for everything”…

Norris: Cooper brings more than just his qualities on the pitch

Former Leeds United player David Norris believes captain Liam Cooper brings more than just his qualities on the pitch to the club.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa got the Yorkshire outfit playing some really good football last season, with Leeds finishing the season strongly, winning four of their last five Premier League matches.

Liam Cooper was instrumental for Leeds last season featuring in 26 games in all competitions, with David Norris believing the captain brings more than just his qualities on the pitch.

He told Football FanCast: “I think with him, he’ll bring more than just what he can do on the pitch. He’s the captain, he’ll be great around the club, he’ll be great in the changing room bringing the lads together. So I think it comes down to more than just his out and out right ability on the pitch.”

Cooper obviously did help bring everyone together and create a good camaraderie around the dressing room, as Leeds enjoyed a brilliant first season back in the Premier League.

The Elland Road outfit finished ninth, just eight points off the final Champions League spot, which was occupied by Chelsea and scored 62 goals in the process.

After a good campaign last season, Leeds will be hoping to push on this upcoming season and their preparations got off to the best possible start as young Leeds team, ran out 3-2 victors against Guiseley on Tuesday night, before a stronger team drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers the following evening.

Celtic: Juranovic perfect for Postecoglou

A summer of change is playing out at Celtic but the Hoops are far from finished when it comes to their transfer business.

Ange Postecoglou wasn’t backed sufficiently until the Bhoys crashed out of Europe’s top competition but since then, they’ve made some eye-catching acquisitions.

On the chalkboard

Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada have taken to life at Parkhead like ducks to water, contributing a whole host of goals since penning terms.

However, they could still be joined in Glasgow by Thomas Henry, the second top scorer in the Belgium top-flight last term.

What’s more important for Celtic now, however, is improving their backline.

Manchester City centre-back Ko Itakura has been linked with a swoop while it’s thought the Bhoys are on the verge of sealing a £2.5m move for Croatian right-back Josip Juranovic.

That’s according to various sources. Sky Sports first reported that Celtic were looking to complete a deal before journalist Izak Ante Sucic (via Everything Celtic) suggested that everything was progressing nicely.

One of the biggest priorities for Postecoglou since he was handed the keys to Paradise has been finding a right-back.

Although Anthony Ralston has started the new season with two goals in successive Premiership games, he still doesn’t feel like a long-term solution to their problems in that third of the pitch.

In Juranovic, they’d find a significant upgrade for their defensive ranks.

The Croat currently plays for Legia Warsaw in Poland where he’s quickly become one of the most eye-catching full-backs in the division.

Described as a “creative monster” by Bhoys Analytics, he’d be the perfect player to fit into the manager’s inverted way of playing.

Capable of coming inside and playing a pass, he is also rampant when hugging the touchline. Juranovic managed to register eight assists last term while completing a very impressive 40% of his crosses.

Furthermore, the Croatia international is extremely competent from a defensive point of view. Although his height of just 5 foot 8 means he wins very few aerial duels, he gave away the least amount of fouls in the entire Polish top-flight last season at only 0.21 per 90 minutes.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-celtic-transfer-news-larsson-lovric-thomas-henry-diego-costa-postecoglou” title=”Read the latest Celtic transfer news!”]

Celtic had attacking full-backs in Jeremie Frimpong and Jonjoe Kenny last term but what they lacked was somebody who could also defend reliably. Juranovic is technically strong but is physical too, prevailing in 67.6% of his ground duels.

On that evidence, the Croatian flyer would be the ideal addition to their ranks this summer. He is creative, strong and also remarkably cheap.

AND in other news, Celtic must sign 25-goal “great talent” who could become “better” than Henrik Larsson…

Leeds must land Liverpool’s Oxlade-Chamberlain

Leeds must look to land Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer amid Carlton Palmer’s transfer claim.

What’s the story?

The England international has struggled to really make his presence felt at Anfield, with injuries once again taking their toll on him just like they did at former club Arsenal – he has managed just 103 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side since joining four years ago.

Palmer has now suggested that the Whites should potentially throw their name into the ring for him, feeling that the £18m-rated man could be the kind of player who could take Marcelo Bielsa’s team to the next level.

Speaking to Football FanCast’s sister site This is Futbol, he said: “Alex could be a good fit for any team. I think he’s a very good player; I think he’s just been unfortunate with injuries. I don’t know why Liverpool would want to sell him – maybe he wants to play more regular football.

“I mean, why not? Leeds have done fantastically well and this is what I’m talking about going to the next level. You know, the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain could take you to the next level, and it’s a big club as well.”

Bielsa would love him

When signing for Liverpool, Anfield Index Pro podcaster Dan Kennett hailed the midfielder as a “physical monster” with “pace, power and endurance.”

Speaking in October 2019 after Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goalscoring display against Genk in the Champions League, Rio Ferdinand said: “You can tell Klopp loves him and he’s desperate to get him in the team somehow. He offers something totally different to the likes of Milner, Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Henderson. He can dribble past people which is hard for a midfielder. It’s great to see him get back in. I like the way that he gets into those positions.

“Once he gets into those pockets in behind the opposition’s midfield he can dribble and shoot. He’s a fantastic footballer and it’s all about decision making there. He offers something totally different in the midfield for Liverpool.”

That ability to take on players is something that Aaron Ramsey, his former teammate at Arsenal, lauded a couple of years ago when saying: “He’s very explosive and quick off the mark, he can go past players with ease and his final ball in has been very good”.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-leeds-transfer-rumours-and-news” title=”Read the latest Leeds transfer rumours and news!”]

Given his versatility, and his ability to bring some power and pace to the middle of the park like Ferdinand says, that makes Oxlade-Chamberlain the kind of player who Bielsa would surely love to add to Leeds’ engine room.

Meanwhile, Leeds United could form a “mouth-watering” attack by signing this star…

Update provided on Gers’ Morelos

According to Portuguese outlet Record (via Sport Witness), Porto and Glasgow Rangers are not in negotiations over a transfer for Alfredo Morelos.

The Lowdown: Morelos linked with Porto

The Colombian has been heavily linked with a move to Porto, with the 25-year-old even reported to have agreed personal terms with the club (Antena 1).

There had been reports of a €17m (£14.6m) agreement (A Bola), but there has now been another update on the 25-year-old which very much appears to contradict that stance.

The Latest: No deal agreed

As per this latest update from Record (via Sport Witness), the two clubs have not come to an agreement at all in regards to the Colombia international – as of yet, there have not even been any negotiations.

While Morelos is said to have opened the door to a move, Porto have not made a concrete approach to sign the forward.

The Verdict: Who knows what to believe?

Every day there appears to be an update on Morelos’ situation. Many supporters may well have been resigned to losing him this summer after it had been suggested that he was close to a move, but they will now have been given hope that he could remain at Ibrox.

One thing is for sure – this is a saga which is likely to go on throughout the summer, just like it did last year when he was said to be on the way to Lille (Sky Sports). That comes with the territory of being one of his club’s most dangerous players, and all Steven Gerrard and the Ibrox hierarchy can do is make sure that the speculation does not damage the Gers’ plans for the new season.

In other news, Steven Gerrard has provided an update on this 24-year-old.

Man City fans go wild for Foden update

Flocking to Twitter, many Manchester City supporters have erupted over news shared by reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano concerning fan favourite Phil Foden.

The England international has been a revelation since manager Pep Guardiola began to play him more regularly in 2020, so much so he was even nominated for the 2021 senior men’s Ballon d’Or.

He also played a major role in City’s run to the Champions League final last season, scoring the winner in both quarter-final legs against German giants Borussia Dortmund.

Foden has continued in that vain so far after coming back from injury, most recently putting on a dazzling display away to Club Brugge as City ran out 5-1 victors.

Now, amid reports surrounding a possible new deal, Romano has some big news for Sky Blues out of Eastlands.

The reliable journalist says City are now ‘set to reach a verbal agreement’ with the 21-year-old over a new deal until June 2027, which includes a bumper salary increase (Twitter).

Flocking to this big update, it’s little wonder many fans have gone wild on Twitter – find all of their best reactions down below.

Wolves fans react to exciting scouting news

A number of Wolves fans are excited after Molineux scouts were reportedly sent to watch Benfica’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

Bruno Lage’s side face Leeds United in the Premier League this weekend, looking to continue their impressive recent form.

Wolves make the trip to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon having picked up three league wins in succession, against Southampton, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Last weekend’s 3-2 victory at Villa Park, which saw Lage’s men come from 2-0 late in the day, should give them enormous confidence going into the Leeds game.

It could still be that new signings arrive at Molineux in January however, with the winter window offering a chance to freshen up the squad, and according to Record [via Talking Wolves on Twitter], a Wolves scout was in attendance for the Benfica-Bayern match on Wednesday night.

Neto open to joining Spurs

According to a report in the paper edition of Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, Barcelona goalkeeper Neto is open to joining Tottenham this summer and the Lilywhites are ‘interested’ – coming amid strong reports of talks to sign shot stopper Pierluigi Gollini.

The Lowdown: Paratici eyeing Spurs overhaul…

It has been a hectic few days on Tottenham with the transfer market now well and truly in full flow.

The Lilywhites’ activity was delayed for long periods after the end of 2020/2021, largely due to their search for a new manager, but now managing director of football Fabio Paratici has his sights set on a major Spurs overhaul.

Spurs appear to be prioritising their defensive issues with advanced talks to sign both Gollini and centre-half Cristian Romero (Alasdair Gold).

Meanwhile, a swap deal for Bryan Gil of Sevilla, with Erik Lamela going the other way, is also in the pipeline (Sky Sports via Football Daily).

The Latest: Neto open to joining Spurs…

Despite Spurs’ negotiations for Gollini, Mundo Deportivo have come out with a claim detailing Tottenham’s interest in Catalans keeper Neto.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-updates/” title=”Tottenham latest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The 6 foot 3 powerhouse, who started just seven La Liga matches over 20/21, is apparently eyeing an exit from the Camp Nou this summer and is now open to joining either Spurs or north London rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham reciprocate his fondness, with Mundo Deportivo claiming they are ‘interested’ in signing the Brazilian and England looks like his ‘only possible destination’.

As well as this, Spurs have already made enquiries over signing Neto, having approached Barcelona some months back and being told to pay €14 million (£12.09m).

Tottenham found the fee too expensive and looked at the possibility of taking him on loan, with the conditions slowing down any type of agreement.

The Verdict: Move on…

Coming amid news of Tottenham’s advanced talks for Gollini, this is quite the bizarre update to come from Spain.

While Neto is open to a north London move, signing Atalanta’s goalkeeping alternative arguably makes for a far better deal considering the 26-year-old’s superior amount of game time and great form since leaving Aston Villa.

Signing both players would also be a fruitless endeavour given Tottenham have a limited amount of money to spend this summer and other positions to bolster.
