كشف قائد الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي إيبسويتش تاون، سام مرسي، السبب وراء الخسارة أمام مانشستر يونايتد في إطار الجولة السابعة والعشرين من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وخسر إيبسويتش أمس، الأربعاء، على ملعب “أولد ترافورد” بنتيجة 3-2، وازداد موقفه سوءً من أجل تفادي الهبوط إلى الدرجة الأولى الإنجليزية.

ويحتل الفريق المركز الثامن عشر في ترتيب الدوري الإنجليزي برصيد 17 نقطة وبفارق 5 نقاط عن ولفرهامبتون صاحب المركز السابع عشر برصيد 22 نقطة.

وتحدث سام مرسي عقب المباراة، وقال: “كل هدف كان مختلفًا عن الآخر، بالنسبة للأول، تحرك لاعبان بشكل مفاجئ، واصطدمت الكرة بي في اللحظة الأخيرة”.

وتابع: “لهذا سأظل دائمًا أبحث عن طريقة ما يمكنني تحسين وتطوير أدائي بها”.

وأضاف: “أما الهدف الثاني، لم نتمكن من إبعاد الكرة على منطقة جزائنا بشكل جيد وفي النهاية سكنت مرمانا، أما الثالث فلم أشاهده مرة أخرى ولكنه كان بضربة رأسية (من ماجواير)”.

واستمر: “علينا التحسن كفريق، استقبال 3 أهداف خارج ملعبنا يجعل مهمتنا صعبة هذا الموسم، لقد سجلنا هدفين ولكن افتقدنا القدرة على إحراز المزيد وحسم المباراة”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “بالطبع، كانت الركلات الثابتة سببًا في خسارتنا أمام مانشستر يونايتد، علينا تحسين هذا الأمر، لنكون أقوى وأفضل”.

وزاد: “في الشوط الأول، كانت المباراة تسير بشكل جيد بالنسبة لنا، كان يجب أن نتعامل مع الكرات الثابتة بشكل أفضل، فاليوم جاءت الأهداف للمنافس من ركلات ثابتة، لأن لم تتاح لهم الكثير من الفرص من اللعب المفتوح”.

وأتم: “الكرات الثابتة تمثل جزء من مهم من كرة القدم، اليوم لم نكن في مستوانا، أشعر بخيبة أمل لنا ولجماهيرنا”.

Loanee youngster Oscar Cortes could be a potential “long-term” absentee, as his frustrating spell at Ibrox continues – he was also plagued by fitness issues during his first loan stint from Lens last season – and the likes of Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and Danilo have all been unavailable of late, too.

The hope is that this current international break not only allows Clement to have a breather and embark on a more consistent run of form later this month, but also get as many of these injured players back in the fold as possible. Now, a new update has emerged regarding one player.

"Great character" gives Rangers injury boost

Posting on his Instagram story on Monday [via Rangers Review], Rangers attacker Matondo simply said “soon”, hinting that his injury comeback is almost complete and that he could be back after the internationals.

This is contrary to what Clement said recently, with the Belgian hinting that the 24-year-old wasn’t one of those nearing a comeback, saying: “I expect in training to have Danilo and Ridvan maybe, and the two others not yet, it’s too early for them.”

Assuming Matondo’s social media post isn’t wide of the mark, this is great news for Rangers, who desperately need their injured players back.

The £23,000-a-week Welshman may only have been available for four Scottish Premiership games this season, starting two of them, but he has already picked up a pair of goals and assists apiece, showing what he can offer in the final third.

Meanwhile, former Wales head coach Rob Page has heaped praise on him in the recent past, saying: “I love Rabbi to bits, he’s such a threat with his pace. He’s a great character in and around the group. He’s earned the right to be back involved. I’d have had him in before this, but because of his injuries we couldn’t. To get Rabbi back is a positive.”

Matondo may not necessarily always be one of the first names on Clement’s team sheet, but he is a hugely important squad player who possesses real quality, as highlighted by his stunning strike at home to Celtic in the 3-3 draw at Ibrox last season.

The problems with the top order persist, though Hasaranga’s knock – alongside a classy 47-ball 61 from Pathum Nissanka – will go some way towards alleviating concerns around the quality of Sri Lanka’s batting. Hasaranga tends not to bat as high as No. 5, but with Sri Lanka having lost wickets in a heap and needing to get a move on, they needed to take a punt. That’s what Hasaranga represented when he walked out to bat, a low-value, high-impact wicket.He got Sri Lanka on their way with a classical back-foot drive through the offside, and all of a sudden, the momentum shifted. The 58-year-old has guided West Ham to just two wins in the league so far, losing four and drawing two. At one point, the east Londoners went from late August to October without a single victory in all competitions, despite their near-£120 million expenditure on new signings in the summer window.

Pressure on Lopetegui was eased somewhat briefly with a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town recently, but they followed that up with a dismal defeat at Tottenham by the same scoreline. Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has even claimed that West Ham are considering Edin Terzic in the event they sack Lopetegui, so it is something the club are perhaps weighing up if results continue in this manner.

Lopetegui has big shoes to fill after David Moyes guided West Ham to their first major trophy since the 1980s, not to mention successive campaigns in Europe, and the former Spain boss is also attempting to gel together a very new-look squad.

West Ham are looking at signing a striker in January as well, amid Niclas Fullkrug’s injury woes, with Lopetegui forced to rely on the likes of Michail Antonio and Danny Ings to lead his line.

There are many factors at play which haven’t exactly helped Lopetegui, but journalist Dean Jones has still urged West Ham to sack the tactician.

“I’ll be honest, I’ve heard reports that there are a fair few people that are not convinced about Lopetegui, and obviously there was friction recently between him and Mohammed Kudus in the dressing room at half-time,” said Jones.

“So there are other layers here that could affect the situation, but there’s emotion too, that is going to impact how this goes, and we’ll see whether they’re (the West Ham board) on the right side of those feelings once we come out of this break.

“Honestly, I’d probably sack him (Lopetegui). I think they’ve got it wrong. I don’t think this is the right man for them. I think it’s a waste of time. I’d sack him.”

Edson Alvarez set for West Ham recall amid real Lopetegui worry

According to GiveMeSport, another major concern held by Lopetegui and his coaching staff is West Ham’s lack of solidarity and bite in midfield – specifically in front of the back four.

Guido Rodriguez and Tomas Soucek have partnered each other in the centre most often, but the pair haven’t exactly helped West Ham maintain control in midfield. This is seen as a big weakness by Lopetegui and his backroom, meaning they could turn back to Edson Alvarez.

Alvarez is set for a recall to West Ham’s starting XI in place of Rodriguez or Soucek as a result, as Lopetegui desperately attempts to turn their fortunes around and halt opponents from dominating them. The Mexico international is in line to start against Man United this weekend as a result, and their clash at the London Stadium represents an opportunity for Alvarez to stake his claim in the side.

Desde que a CBF reintroduziu a Supercopa do Brasil no calendário do futebol nacional, há dois anos, o Flamengo venceu as duas edições realizadas. Em 2020, venceu o Athletico por 3 a 0 e, em 2021, superou o Palmeiras nos pênaltis após o empate em 2 a 2. Nas duas vezes, o Rubro-Negro chegou como campeão brasileiro e as finais também foram no Mané Garrincha, em Brasília.
